[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Susan Hill’s acclaimed ghost story The Woman In Black comes dramatically alive in playwrights Stephen Mallatratt’s ingenious stage adaptation playing at The Regent Theatre in Stoke this October. Having now run for 27 terrifying years in the West End, Director Robin Herford’s gripping production is a brilliantly successful study in atmosphere, illusion and controlled horror – oh and it’s really, really scary.
WHAT’S IT ABOUT?
A lawyer obsessed with a curse that he believes has been cast over him and his family by the spectre of a Woman in Black, engages a sceptical young actor to help him tell his terrifying story and exorcise the fear that grips his soul.
It all begins innocently enough, but then, as they reach further into his darkest memories, they find themselves caught up in a world of eerie marshes and moaning winds.

SHOULD YOU SEE IT?
The show is surprisingly simply staged, and only features two actors. However The Woman in Black combines such power and intensity of live theatre with a cinematic quality, that a lack of a big budget set, or large cast seems to matter none, as you are drawn in to a very intense theatrical experience.
The show has been unanimously acclaimed by the critics, and the clever formula delivers an evening of unremitting drama, transporting the audience into a terrifying and ghostly world. In fact over 7 million people have lived to tell the tale of one of the most chilling and successful theatre events ever staged – will you be the next victim of the Woman in Black?
