We’re All Going On A Summer Holiday to Stoke

The iconic Cliff Richard movie musical Summer Holiday, in which he along with the Shadows took off on a summer jolly across Europe in a London bus, is being staged as a big budget musical, and stopping off in Staffordshire, for a week or two.

Spirit Productions are touring this iconic film as a feel-good stage musical next Summer with Don and his fellow London Transport bus mechanics do up do up a number 9 double-decker London bus to drive it through Paris, the Alps, Italy and then Greece, along the way picking up a girl group in a clapped-out Morris Minor who take them to their next singing job in Athens, plus a young American boy stowaway.

The original Cliff Richard role of Don will be played by X Factor crooner Ray Quinn.  The variery entertainer and pianist Bobby Crush has also been earmarked to join the cast.

The musical was last seen professionally on stage with Darren Day playing the lead, and the producers of this revival promise this version to be equally as olourful and funny with plenty of songs you can sing along with including In the Country, Summer Holiday, Travellin’ Light, Bachelor Boy, Move It, Living Doll, The Young Ones, Put On Your Dancing Shoes and On the Beach .

The new production will be directed and choreographed by Racky Plews.

The Summer Holiday bus will make its stop at the Regent Theatre in Hanley in October 2018 as part of a UK tour that will continue into 2019.  Tickets are on sale now.
