POWERFUL DOCUDRAMA CREATED TO DELIVER SAFE DRIVING MESSAGE TO STAFFORDSHIRE TEENS

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]New Vic Borderlines the award-winning Staffordshire based initiative using theatre in social contexts has been working with the police and fire and rescue services to create a powerful docudrama exploring the devastating consequences of being distracted while driving.

This pilot drama project called Message Not Delivered is aimed at young people and will be touring into Newcastle-under-Lyme schools and colleges over the autumn.

Some of the key messages in the piece cover the facts that drivers aged 16-19 are a third more likely to die in a crash than drivers aged 40-49, and one in four 18-24 year olds crash within two years of passing their driving test.

COMMUNITY PERFORMANCES

New Vic Borderlines is based in Staffordshire, and undertakes work of regional, national and international significance and is acknowledged as a national beacon for the ways theatre can be used to work within the community.

This project is a terrific example about how theatre led organisations like this can make a positive difference to our lives, and in this specific instance by working with Staffordshire Police and Fire Service to further help keep young people safe on our roads.

SUMMARY

New Vic Borderlines uses theatre to help people find new and positive ways to understand themselves, their communities and their responsibilities.  It challenges destructive and anti-social behaviour, builds self-awareness and self-worth and develops positive attitudes.

Borderlines partners with a variety of local and national organisations, and works with individuals, groups and communities facing challenges such as young people at risk of offending, and adults with learning difficulties.
