New theatre writing in Staffordshire delivers a night in the office from hell

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The exciting Staffordshire theatre company Potboiler drag you into the office from hell with a new piece of writing exploring ruthless ambition, deep held desires and a world of devotion, underscored by a pounding 1980s soundtrack.

WHAT’S IT ABOUT

The brand new fantasy thriller Devotion, set in an abandoned Staffordshire workplace, follows the hellish night experienced by two regular nightshift office workers.  When the two lone clerics stumble upon a confidential file and uncover a horrifying secret, their regular nighty routine of photocopying, filing and fag breaks turns violently upside down.

“Sometimes it’s like the whole world up there doesn’t exist anymore. That it fizzled out with a whimper at about five o’ clock this morning. That now it’s just us. Me and you. In the whole universe.  Sat here.  Alone.”

Devotion has been created by playwright Kat Boon and director Kat Hughes of Potboiler Theatre, based in Stoke-on-Trent.

The emerging  company has been responsible for creating pop up theatre across North Staffordshire, creating irreverent character driven live storytelling music events inspired by the stories of the local area and its people.

The new work is supported with funding from National Lottery through Arts Council England and Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council.

The new play will be performed at Stoke Town Hall from 22 to 24 September 2016.  We will bring you information about any further plans for the show as soon as we know.
