STAFFORDSHIRE SHAKESPEARE SELFIE DAY

Staffordshire’s libraries are inviting everyone to take part in a mass Shakespeare Selfie event to help mark the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare.

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The good folk of Staffordshire are being invited to take part in a mass Shakespeare selfie to mark the 400th anniversary of the bard.

Staffordshire’s ‘Shakespeare Selfie Day’ takes place on Saturday 23 April 2016, the date the world commemorates the death of William Shakespeare, and celebrates his theatrical legacy.

As part of a national celebration, Staffordshire’s libraries have plotted a fun theatrical event, and want as many people as possible to pop into their local library, and use their specially made Shakespearian themed props and speech bubbles to snap a Shakespeare Selfie and post it on social media using the hashtag #shakespeare16

Ben Adams, Staffordshire County Council Cabinet Member responsible for libraries, said:

“Staffordshire’s libraries are proud to support this special celebration of our national poet, which aims to explore Shakespeare’s life, works and times in a fun and engaging way.”

Saturday April 23 is also World Book Night and activities taking place will include Shakespeare readings, family craft events, quizzes, treasure hunts and fun competitions with prizes.

To take part you can find out the opening times and details of your nearest Staffordshire library and see what’s on www.staffordshire.gov.uk/libraries
